Changsha–Budapest Freight Train services launched

Recently, Hunan established a new channel to connect with countries along the “Belt and Road”. On May 27, the international freight train X8422 departed from Xianing Railway Freight Yard, with 41 containers full of electronic products, tea leaves, shoes and clothing, optical cables, hardwares, spare and accessory parts of machinery. After traveling 10 thousand kilometers, commodities marked with Made in China will arrive in Budapest, capital of Hungary in 12 days. The freight train is the latest China – Euro express following those connecting Hamburg (Duisburg), Warsaw, Moscow, Tashkent and Minsk. It is also a new channel established after the opening of the “Belt and Road” Summit Forum.
Changsha – Budapest Train is jointly operated and managed by Guangzhou Railway (Group) Corporation, China Railway Container Transportation Co., Ltd, Changsha Freight Center of Guangzhou Railway (Group) Corporation, Hunan – Euro Express Platform Corporation. “China – Euro Express (Changsha – Budapest)” will operate once a week for one-way export at the initial stage. With supply of goods increasing and stabilizing, we will add more trains for return trip and increase operation frequency.” Director of Changsha Freight Center Chen Huabing introduced.
Changsha – Budapest Train is the first one running to central Europe in Hunan. At present, there are 3 or 4 trains departing from Changsha to Hamburg and Duisburg (Germany), Warsaw (Poland) and Minsk (Belarus) every week. Totally, these trains have run about 200 times, and conveyed more than 15 thousand standard containers of import and export goods weighing 350 thousand tons and valued at above 800 million dollars. Besides, the forwarding from January to April increased by 72.22% year on year. China – Euro trains departing from Changsha took the first place among those outbound trains passing by Manzhouli and Erenhot, and ranked the fourth nationwide.
