Tanheli Bronze Museum to be open on September 30
Tanheli Bronze Museum will be officially open on September 30. At present, debugs on relevant facilities and equipments of the museum have already been completed, and the exhibition is also close to completion. Recently, reporters has entered the museum to visit, experiencing the demeanor of Tanheli – the southern Bronze center.
Ningxiang is renowned as the Southern Bronze Culture Center in China. The most impressive is that there are many unearthed bronzes originating from Shang and Zhou dynasties, with fantastic style and magnificent decoration. The bronzes of Ningxiang are taken as typical representative of Shang-Zhou Dynasties in Xiangjiang River of Hunan province by the academia, and are called bronze group of Ningxiang, of which the Four Goats Quadripod enjoys the highest prestige. In April, 1938, Jiang Jingshu, a villager of Longquan village of Huangcai county in Ningxiang county, together with his brothers Jiang Jingqiao and Jiang Xiqiao went to Zhanyelong mountain to plant sweet potato and unexpectedly discovered the bronze ware with 3000 years.
The overall shape of Tanheli Bronze Culture Museum is designed as the prototype of Four Goats Quadripod, and a unique face-like figure sculpted on all sides.
Tanheli National Archaeological Site Park covers an area of about 1964 mu, with an investment of 0.9 billion. The first phase project focusing on Tanheli Bronze Culture Museum, Tanheli National Archaeological Site Park and culture corridor is scheduled to open on September 30. " Li Wen Hao, director of the Management Department of the site in Ningxiang county introduced that the museum covers an area of 8662 square meters, holding an area of peripheral zone nearly 200 mu, and the exhibition area is approximately 4000 square meters. The Museum consists of two floors. The first floor will be divided into three chapters to exhibit unearthed bronze wares Hunan, excavated cultural relics and bronze civilization; while Ningxiang folk culture exhibition, 3D cinema and Lecture Hall will be established in the second floor, which is mainly used for museum education and teaching, as well as for academic research and other activities.
