Changsha to have iTEP test site
The International Test of English Proficiency (iTEP) has set up a testing center in Changsha, Hunan province, on March 20. Apart from this test, Hunan province has also been organizing other two types of the internationally acclaimed English proficiency qualification testings: TOEFL and IELTS.
iTEP is an Internet-based assessment tool that measures English language skills of non-native speakers. It is approved by more than 600 institutions and 300 private high schools in the United States. There are two types of iTEP exam that are used in the educational settings: iTEP Academic and iTEP SLATE.
iTEP Academic is used on-site by intensive English programs (IEPs) for placement, progress, and exit evaluations. It is also used at the admissions offices at colleges and universities for the evaluation of the prospective students' English abilities.
iTEP SLATE (Secondary Level Assessment Test of English) evaluates high school, secondary school, and middle school students, as well as the ones at the boarding schools and academies. It is the fastest growing English exam for secondary school students.
iTEP Business measures English skills required in the working environment. It is used by companies for different purposes, such as: screening of the new employees, decision-making regarding promotions and assignments, and evaluation of the English training programs. iTEP Business has, likewise iTEP Academic and iTEP SLATE, both core and plus version.
Core versions of the three types of iTEP exams are 60 minutes long, Internet-based, and they include three parts: reading, grammar and listening. On the other hand, plus version is longer, being 90 minutes long, and it has two additional parts: writing and speaking.
The iTEP exam results come out five to seven days after the testing day.
