Tourism festival to offer free tickets to Hunan attractions
The Hunan International Tourism Festival will be held in Shaoyang city from Sept 16 to 19. The event features free trips to many scenic spots in the province
A press conference for the upcoming festival was held in capital city Changsha on July 31. Gao Yangxian, deputy director of the Hunan Tourism Bureau said this year’s festival will promote the rich tourism resources of south and southwest regions of Hunan province, as they haven’t experienced the same success as those in the northwest.
On Sept 16, the festival’s opening day, many A-level scenic spots province-wide will open to tourists for free. In Shaoyang specifically, the event’s host city, A-level spots will offer free tickets for 15 days, stretching beyond the scope of the festival. Visitors can book tickets online.
“At present, more than 80 A-level scenic spots have joined the free trip program, covering most cities in the province. And the number of participating places keeps growing,” said Gao, who also said this will push the region’s scenic spots to reduce their dependencies on ticket sales.
Meanwhile, all participating scenic spots are required to prepare for the potential rush of visitors.
Langshan Mountain in Shaoyang, one of two world heritage sites in Hunan province, will offer free tickets for 15 days in September. The scenic area is applying for recognition as a national AAAAA-level scenic spot.
