Hunan-Uganda Investment Cooperation Matchmaking Meeting Held
The Hunan-Uganda Investment Cooperation Matchmaking Meeting was held in Changsha on May 21.
Hunan Provincial Department of Commerce Director Xu Xiangping said that Africa is the main export destination for Hunan's dominant industries, excellent enterprises and high-quality products. Based on a solid foundation and strong complementarity, the cooperation between Hunan and Uganda will have broad prospects. Hunan province will cooperate with Uganda in 5 key areas including agriculture, energy and electricity, mining, industrial parks, and tourism.
In the area of agriculture, Hunan will establish Hunan-Africa Agriculture Industry Operation Alliance, which will provide package solutions and intellectual support for Ugandan agriculture; in the area of energy and electricity, Hunan may also provide package solutions to their power system via such ways as improving the coverage rate of Uganda power transmission and transformation network, and helping Uganda build a professional team of electricity personnel; in terms of mining, Hunan will make further researches in Uganda and conduct matchmaking meetings to promote bilateral mining cooperation; and in the field of industrial parks, the experience on the project of Ethiopia-Hunan Industrial Park will be adopted; and as for tourism, we will introduce more Hunan (China) tourists to travel to Uganda.
H.E. HON. CHRISPUS KIYONGA, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Embassy of the Republic of Uganda to the People’s Republic of China said that Uganda hopes to strengthen its economic and trade exchanges with Hunan, especially on the area of Ugandan product export to China. It will create favorable business environment for Hunan’s enterprises who make investment in Uganda. It is learned that the Ugandan delegation to Hunan, led by him, has made field visits on such projects as paddy rice, vegetable, cotton, aquaculture, and irrigation.
