15.48 Mln Tourist Trips Made in Hunan During May Day Holiday
The Hunan Tourism Development Committee (HTDC) announced on May 1 that Hunan scenic spots are popular with visitors and tourism market operates in a safe and orderly manner during the three-day International Labor Day holiday. More than 15.48 million tourist trips were made during that period, up 21.01% from last year's holiday. The tourism revenue reached more than 10.1 billion CNY, up 29.58% year on year.
Statistics show that more than 4.93 million trips by tourists were made in 122 provincially-monitored scenic spots during the period, bringing ticket proceeds of 361 million CNY.
Scenic spots are popular and rural tourism keeps growing.
During the holiday, major scenic spots in the province launched various featured activities. Some key scenic spots offered discount tickets for tourists. Changde Taohuayuan Scenic Area has slashed entrance fees to 51 CNY during the holiday. At Yueyang Tower Scenic Spot, free tickets were offered to those who recited the article “Yueyang Tower” and 30-CNY tickets to Yueyang residents.
Rural tourism keeps growing. In Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, many rural tourism scenic spots including Fenghuang, Guzhang’s Morong, Longshan’s Rebala, Yongshun’s Shanmu River, Huayuan’s Shibadong Village, and Jinlong’s Miao Village attracted a large number of tourists, who went there to enjoy flowers, picking fruits, do farm work, taste rural cuisine, and experience folk customs.
Cultural and tourism products become new areas of high consumer demand.
Miyin Temple on Weishan Mountain in Ningxiang, Wenjiashi Memorial Hall in Liuyang, and Baileyuan Amusement Park in Wangcheng have become hot tourist destinations of Changsha, where attracted lots of tourists from Hunan and other provinces for sightseeing, parent-child tour, study tours, and outdoor adventures.
In Yongzhou, Flower-drum Opera performances were staged at Liuzongyuan Cultural Tourism Area, Dongshan Scenic Spot, Liling Ancient Town in Lingling District; and the “Fantastic Nvshu Tour” specially planned by Jiangyong County was highly favored by female tourists.
Cultural and tourism activities across the province were held during the holiday. Tourists crazed for purchasing cultural and tourism products. Cultural performances also contributed a lot to tourism consumption.
