Wangcheng Economic and Technological Development Zone
The Wangcheng Economic and Technological Development Zone was founded in 2000. It was approved by the State Council to become a national development zone in February 2014. Its planned area is 85 square kilometers, with four subdistricts under its jurisdiction, namely Wushan, Baishazhou, Huangjinyuan, and Jinshanqiao.
The whole zone is included in the development scope of four national strategic platforms, including Hunan Xiangjiang New Area, Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan “Two-Oriented” Society (resource-saving and environment-friendly society) Construction Pilot Zone, Dongting Lake Ecological and Economic Cycle, and Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan National Innovation Demonstration Zone.
It is a key construction area of the district, the city, the province, and even the country, and the youngest and the most dynamic national park in Changsha.
After 18 years of construction and development, four leading industries have been formed in the park, namely, non-ferrous metal new materials and advanced manufacturing, food processing, electronic information, and modern business logistics. More than 1,400 companies settled in the park, including 174 enterprises above a designated size, 24 listed enterprises, and 22 Fortune Global 500 and China Top 500 enterprises.
The park has built 6 national laboratories, 3 national enterprise technology centers, 6 academician and post-doctoral workstations, and 52 provincial and municipal enterprise technology (engineering) centers. It owns 14 well-known national trademarks and 63 famous provincial trademarks.
It has successively been approved as the National New-type Industrialization Demonstration Base, China Logistics Demonstration Base, National Intellectual Property Pilot Park, and National Nonferrous Metal New Material Deep Processing High-tech Industrialization Base.
In 2018, there is a year-on-year increase of 39.3% in total output value of industries above a designated size, 34.8% in fixed asset investment, 31.5% in industrial investment , 184.6% in total retail sales of consumer goods, 8% in total fiscal revenue, and 21% in tax revenue.
According to the park’s "13th Five-Year Plan", the goal is “creating a leading industry of 100 billion yuan and becoming China's top 100 parks.” Following two strategies of “developing industries” and “attracting talents”, the park strives to build itself into an intellectual manufacturing cluster, a transportation and logistics hub, a leading area in business market, a powerful engine for Changsha’s honor, and a major growth pole for Changsha’s industrial development.
