Exhibition economic zone opens in Changsha
The Huangxing Exhibition Economic Zone was established in Changsha county, a district of Changsha city on May 25.
The economic zone, covering an area of 170.9 square km, is located in the southeast part of Changsha county. It borders with Changsha airport to the east, Changsha National Economic and Technical Development Zone to the north and the city's high-speed rail station to the west.
As many as 215 fixed-asset investment projects are under construction in the area, involving total investment of 10.27 billion yuan ($1.57 billion). The operating income of the zone's leading industries – modern service and commercial circulation – is forecast to reach 33 billion yuan in 2016.
The Changsha International Convention & Exhibition Center currently under construction on the east bank of the Liuyang River in the zone will start operation by the end of the year. According to Executive Vice County Mayor Yang Li, Changsha county put forward a "functional zoning" strategy in 2015, setting out to boost the county based on five function zones, namely an advanced manufacturing zone, an airport economic zone, the Xingsha Songya Lake business zone, the Changsha modern agriculture zone and the Huangxing exhibition economic zone.
