Changsha Donates Epidemic Prevention Materials to Gumi and Daegu of South Korea
On March 13 morning, Changsha delivered a batch of epidemic protection and control supplies to two of its friendship cities - Gumi and Daegu of South Korea.
Currently, the epidemic trend in South Korea is increasingly severe. Hu Henghua, standing committee member of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and secretary of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee; and Zheng Jianxin, deputy secretary of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee, acting Changsha mayor, and secretary of the Party Working Committee of the Hunan Xiangjiang New Area, sent letters to the friendship cities to support them to fight against the epidemic and overcome difficulties together. Also, a batch of protective supplies were presented to the two cities. Changsha will further intensify relations with its friendship cities in South Korea, assist their people to fight against the COVID-19, and strengthen their confidence in defeating the epidemic.
Since the epidemic outbreak, Gumi and Daegu of South Korea have kept a close attention to the epidemic situation in Changsha. In mid-February, Gumi Mayor Jang Se-yong and Daegu Mayor Kwon Young-jin expressed their deep concern and good wishes in their letters. Gumi City donated medical materials for epidemic prevention to Changsha at the very beginning of the outbreak, which are timely support to Changsha’s epidemic prevention and control .
Gumi and Changsha established friendly-city relationship on October 19, 1998. Both cities have developed a profound friendship with frequent high-level visits and constant people-to-people exchanges over the past 22 years. Daegu and Changsha were both selected as the Culture City of East Asia in 2017. The two cities signed an agreement on establishing friendly cooperation ties in 2018, and have expanded their exchanges and cooperation in various fields like culture, education and youth education.
