Changsha embraces mutual development with peers in Japan, South Korea
Changsha will celebrate wider cooperation with East Asian countries after Changsha government leaders rounded off tours to sister cities of Kagoshima, in Japan, Gumi and Gwangju, in South Korea from Oct 9 to 15.
The year of 2017 marks the 35th anniversary of the sister-city relationship between the Hunan province capital and Kagoshima and the 19th with Gumi.
Cheng Shuiquan, director of the Standing Committee of the Changsha People's Congress, led a delegation to celebrate the long-standing fond connections.
They held a discussion with the Japanese city mayor -- Hiroyuki Mori, during which both cities reviewed its past achievements and expressed wishes to deepen communication in various fields.
In Gumi, which is famous for being the largest electronics industrial city in South Korea, Changsha delegators talked over the celebration of the 20-year sisterhood in 2018 with the South Korean city mayor and government officials.
Both sides agreed to further cooperation and exchanges in economy, trade, and culture and promoted communications between the youth, in a bid to promote bilateral cooperation with a wider and deeper scope.
Well-known for its educational and cultural projects, Gwangju is also home to Zheng Lvcheng, the composer of the military anthem of Chinese People's Liberation Army.
Changsha delegators also met with the president of Japanese Chamber of Commerce in Hunan, during which Changsha's generous benefits for talent were briefly introduced in an effort to attract overseas personnel to the city.
A series of visits help the central Chinese city draw experiences from and join hands with its peer cities to achieve mutual development, Changsha Evening News reported.
