Changsha Maglev Express Wins National Quality Engineering Gold Award
The 2019 National Quality Engineering Award Summary and Commendation Conference was held at the China National Convention Center on December 8. A total of 14 projects in Changsha won the National Quality Engineering Award, including the Changsha Maglev Express Project, the Nanhu Road Xiangjiang River Tunnel Project, the Changshanyuan Sewage Treatment Plant Reconstruction and Expansion Project Phase II, and the Wanda Plaza in Kaifu District. In particular, Changsha Maglev Express won the National Quality Engineering Gold Award.
Five Changsha Districts Rank Among China's Top 100 Districts
On December 4, CCID Consulting, a leading Chinese think tank, released a report on Chinese districts’ overall competitiveness. It also announced a list of China’s top 100 districts in terms of overall competitiveness. Six districts in Hunan were included, one in Changde and the other five in Changsha: Changde’s Wuling was placed at 31st and Changsha’s Yuhua 17th, Furong 37th, Yuelu 65th, Kaifu 69th, and Tianxin 71st.
Changsha Wins Its 12th “Happiest Cities in China” Award
The China Happy Cities Forum was held in Guangzhou on November 25. The results of the 13th “Happiest Cities in China” Survey and Selection were released during the forum. Changsha was on the list of the “Happiest Cities in China 2019”. This is Changsha’s 12th “Happiest Cities” award. Changsha was awarded the honorary title of a "Vibrant City” as an individual award for the first time.
Changsha Elected as UCLG World Council and Executive Bureau Member
The World Summit of Local and Regional Leaders and the 6th Congress of the United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) was held in Durban, South Africa between November 13 and 15. A Changsha delegation attended. At the congress, Changsha was elected as a member of the UCLG World Council and Executive Bureau.
Three Changsha Counties Included in China’s Top 50 Counties in Business Environment
On November 12, CCID Consulting, a leading Chinese think tank, released its research findings on China’s top 100 counties in business environment. Changsha County, Liuyang City (county-level), and Ningxiang City (county-level) were among the top 50 counties in this regard.
Changsha Ranks 68th Worldwide in Urban Economic Competitiveness
On November 12, the National Academy of Economic Strategy of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and the United Nations Programme for Human Settlements (UN-Habitat) jointly released The Global Urban Competitiveness Report 2019-2020: The world’s Changes over 300 Years after Urbanization. According to the report, Changsha ranked 68th worldwide in terms of urban economic competitiveness this year, up three places from the previous year. It is the third time that Changsha has entered the global top 100 in urban economic competitiveness.
