Located in the north of Changsha City, Kaifu District includes Jinxia Economic Development Zone, Qingzhu Lake Ecological Technology (Industrial) Park Administrative Committee, Changsha Jinxia Customs Bonded Logistics Center, Hongshan Tourism Authority, 9 communities and 2 towns, covering an area of 188 square kilometers. Thus it is the largest and the most populous district of Changsha City.
Kaifu District has a comprehensive transportation network. Across the Xiangjiang River are Xiangjiang No.1 Bridge, No.2 Bridge and Changshi Railway Bridge. Its convenient deepwater port terminals at Xianing and freight train station connect the entire country. Beijing-Guangzhou railway, and Beijing-Zhuhai highway run through this district from south to north, while Changshi railway runs through it from east to west. 319 State Road, Changxiang Road, Furong North Road, and Qingzhu Lake Avenue are connected with the first, second and third ring roads, which form a comprehensive transportation network.
In recent years, rapid economic development has brought its comprehensive economic strength to a new level.In 2014, it achieved GDP of 66.1 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 12 percent. By the end of 2014, it has a population of about 452,000.
