The theme of the conference is that “linguistic diversity plays a vital role in the protection, application and promotion of language resources so as to build a community with shared future for mankind”. It involves activities of opening ceremony, closing ceremony, plenary meeting, parallel forum and cultural inspection.
Since 2015, Hunan has implemented the Hunan Sub-project of Chinese Language Resource Protection Program, and obtained great achievements. Chiefs of the UNESCO and the Ministry of Education have repeatedly inspected Hunan on the World Language Resource Protection Conference since last November. This conference will play a positive role in presenting Hunan’s image, improving its international influence, and promoting its cultural exchange and cooperation with other countries.
It is expected that the Hunan Provincial Museum will build a permanent exhibition hall on Chinese language and culture. It will be served as a significant outcome of the conference. For the exhibits at the hall, the ration of world language resources, language resources of other regions in China and Hunan’s language resources takes up 20%, 30% and 50% respectively.
