D1 Van Model for Ride-hailing Services Put into Production and Operation in Changsha
The world's first purpose-built D1 van model for ride-hailing services, jointly developed by BYD and Didi Chuxing, was officially put into production and operation at the Yuhua Economic Development Zone in Changsha on December 25.
As the first generation of purpose-built shared smart car, the D1 van model provides data support for intelligent driving based on the data of drivers, passengers and roads on Didi Chuxing’s platform. Meanwhile, BYD’s e-platform, blade battery and other technologies are combined to carry out customized design in various aspects such as in-car human-computer interaction, passenger experience, and vehicle networking.
The first group of D1 vans will be promoted nationwide after they are put into operation in Changsha. More than 100,000 such vehicles are expected to be produced annually, generating an extra output value of more than 10 billion yuan.
Since its location in Changsha in 2009, Changsha BYD has successively invested in power battery, high-end electronic intelligent terminal, IGBT semiconductor, and rail transit. Changsha has become BYD Group’s central China headquarters base, with the most complete industry chain of whole vehicle, core technologies of power battery, drive motor, and whole vehicle electronic control, and intelligent terminal.
