Guideline for “5G+” New Infrastructure Released
The Changsha Economic Development Zone released its Guideline for “5G+” New Infrastructure Construction on May 29. The guideline, prepared by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, is China’s first systematic document on industrial application scenarios of 5G based on local industrial characteristics.
It figured out the application of 5G and AI should address major pain points in the growth of leading and featured industries at Changsha Economic Development Zone, focus on solving such issues as low production efficiency, the split of design and production, difficulty in quality improvement, lag in equipment maintenance, disorder site management and complex logistics scheduling. In addition, regarding three key orientations on “5G+ Artificial Intelligence”, “5G+ VR/AR” and “5G+ smart products”, it generated10 application scenarios including intelligent control and parameter optimization of equipment, quality test of “5G+ machine vision”, predictive maintenance of “5G+ machine learning”, identification and management of materials and parts, precise auxiliary operation and maintenance, real-time co-design, new supporting assembly, cloud-based mobile AGV dispatching, automatic inspection by robots and intelligent control of products.
The Changsha Economic Development Zone will accelerate the construction of 5G base stations. It is expected to have 975 5G base stations built by the mid-year to cover such key enterprises as Sunward, the China Railway Construction Heavy Industry Co., Ltd., Bosch Auto, GAC FCA, and GAC Mitsubishi. The number of 5G base stations will reach 1,662 by the end of this year, achieving full coverage of 5G in the zone.
In the next stage, the Changsha Economic Development Zone will center on its leading and special industry chains and step up efforts to build a batch of application scenarios of new “5G+” infrastructure benchmarks. It plans to invest over 200 million CNY to back up leading enterprises in practicing 5G application scenarios.
